MHBG Planning

Mental Health Block Grant

It is a federal program in the U.S. that provides funding to states and territories to support community-based mental health services. It aims to help adults with serious mental illnesses and children with serious emotional disturbances by developing and maintaining comprehensive mental health services. Administered by SAMHSA, the grant offers flexibility in how funds are used, allowing states to support new or existing programs. States must submit plans and report on their progress, but the grant is non-competitive, meaning all eligible entities receive funding.
